What is a Friends Preview Sale at a Book Sale?
Friends preview sales are typically held on the first day of the sale. They are also sometimes refered to as “preview night” & “first pick night”. These are usually resevered first pick nights for anyone who is a memeber of the Friends of the Library. You can generally join the friends of the library for $5 to $25 a year. One comment question that comes up when setting up a Book Sale is “How do you organize the books?”
This question is very important to address, setting up a sale poorly, can have an effect on the amount of items you sell. The first issue to address is spacing. You cannot have many books in a small space with a narrow walk way, without effecting the comfort of your shoppers. It is a good rule of thumb to space tables to where 3 or 4 people can fit between the tables. You need room for somene to browse on each side of the isle and have room for people who walk though.
